I just received this e-mail from my 63 yr-old dad:
It arrived yesterday, and unfortunately the jock strap doesn't fit me, so I gave it to Bubbles and he looks very much improved with his bulging nuts abound forth. Quite amazingly it is his push up bra which has given him great confidence. So, he and I thank you from the bottoms of to the top of, well you know.

I am not sure if I will be locking this to friends only. Let's see as the post progresses.
Big news! Where to start? I guess maybe with the bad news and then good?
Item #1) Unfortunately I am not going to Arkansas in February. I had planned to go for a quick visit and see old friends and debauch myself at one final Queer Bash.
This is what I'm doing instead:
Toby called me last week an asked if I wanted to go to Puerto Rico. I was like "sure" but I didn't really think anything would come of it. Well, we totally bought our tickets and booked our hotel and are leaving in two weeks! It is pretty spontaneous and pretty adult (I guess), and having a job makes me really want to get away from it. It's so typical but I am going to lay on the beach and drink rum and disregard skin safety and get tan. It's just Toby and I and about 10 gallons of alcohol and 85 degree weather.

Item #2) I did a google search on my name today (which I do every hour, every day, every week, etc.) and found sound strange entry about google books. Anyway, I figured out that it was for Lonely Planet's newest edition of their Thailand guide, and they included my name in the Acknowledgements. About a year ago I e-mailed them and suggested that they include a warning about toursits posing with baby gibbons because of the animal cruelty issues involved, but they never responded so I figured that was that. But I guess they are going to include it and Lonely Planet is read by everyone and it could really educate a lot of people and maybe cut down on the trade there, even if just a little. So basically I was on top of the world for about an hour. It's just nice that such a small e-mail has the possibility to help animals.

Anyway that's the what. Life is pretty good these days.

A bunch of people are coming to DC next month, in addition to the lot that have already come. Someone said that if you move to DC that a lot of people will stay with you. I thought they were trying to make me feel better about not knowing anyone up here (EXCEPT MY TOTALLY HOT LESBIAN FRIEND RYAN), but it's totally true.
I had two really nice conversations last night with people from Weaverville. Apparently there is a really large fire just outside of town and there are some mandatory evacuations. That isn't the nice part. I'd feel a lot worse about this if it didn't happen every summer.
God what a boring post. I was going to go on in detail about the holyhot weather, my strong desire to become inappropriately drunk, and some story about Lola, but I'll stop myself right here.

I wish it was a better exscuse, but Dr. West's dogs woke me up at 5 a.m. and I'm sleepy.

I went to work today and ended up spending an hour in a photo shoot for the office. I had to sit in the doctor's office while a freshman who got some Odyssey funding pretended to take my blood pressure. Then we did a pose where he sat in a chair with a folder, explaining soemthing. It kind of looks like he's explaining about a contracted STD, but if that's the image I leave Hendrix with...I'm okay with that.

Oh! I also found in "women seeking women" in Salt Lake City this ad for a woman who was willing to move into their home and have sex with them both and be interested in decorating, etc. Here is an excerpt:
"student would be good but a girl who just wanted to be a "housewife" would be great"

Damnit Nick my heart will always be with you. You just should have been an ass all season and you would have made it to the final 4. But seriously...Kara in the final four? Chloe? What, is she going to invent a new shade of blue and make Michael "American Jet Set Fashion Pioneer" Kors' head explode?
I'm seriously sorry for posting anything about how I'm upset over a t.v. show...but I'm just bored and making it worse by thinking about this kind of shit. On the positive side, it was a very nice viewing in which everyone brought snacks!

I just came across some leaked information from next week's Project Runway. If you don't like spoilers, don't click!

Based on the promo shots, it appears as if Nick, enraged over his sudden and unfair ousting, has become some sort of demonic cyborg bent on total destruction. And it looks like he got his hair highlighted.
I wonder who the celebrity will be next week. According to a source (samusjr) it will be a certain celebrity host's fetus!

I have finally made a break through with my thesis and so now I'm coastin. By that I mean that my semester is, and I LOVE to admit this, going to be kinda easy academically. I only have 3 classes, two of them only meet once a week, and my work is enjoyable. One of my stories (I won't admit which one because it's embarassing) was one of the top 10 most read articles of it's kind of this news service. Etc.
Also, Lola is fast recovering from her little skirmish. Meaning she is once again aloof and predatory.
Um, Nick wants you to comment on his blog, but don't tell him I told you that.
