I just received this e-mail from my 63 yr-old dad: It arrived yesterday, and unfortunately the jock strap doesn't fit me, so I gave it to Bubbles and he looks very much improved with his bulging nuts abound forth. Quite amazingly it is his push up bra which has given him great confidence. So, he and I thank you from the bottoms of to the top of, well you know.

I am not sure if I will be locking this to friends only. Let's see as the post progresses. Big news! Where to start? I guess maybe with the bad news and then good? Item #1) Unfortunately I am not going to Arkansas in February. I had planned to go for a quick visit and see old friends and debauch myself at one final Queer Bash. This is what I'm doing instead: Toby called me last week an asked if I wanted to go to Puerto Rico. I was like "sure" but I didn't really think anything would come of it. Well, we totally bought our tickets and booked our hotel and are leaving in two weeks! It is pretty spontaneous and pretty adult (I guess), and having a job makes me really want to get away from it. It's so typical but I am going to lay on the beach and drink rum and disregard skin safety and get tan. It's just Toby and I and about 10 gallons of alcohol and 85 degree weather.
Item #2) I did a google search on my name today (which I do every hour, every day, every week, etc.) and found sound strange entry about google books. Anyway, I figured out that it was for Lonely Planet's newest edition of their Thailand guide, and they included my name in the Acknowledgements. About a year ago I e-mailed them and suggested that they include a warning about toursits posing with baby gibbons because of the animal cruelty issues involved, but they never responded so I figured that was that. But I guess they are going to include it and Lonely Planet is read by everyone and it could really educate a lot of people and maybe cut down on the trade there, even if just a little. So basically I was on top of the world for about an hour. It's just nice that such a small e-mail has the possibility to help animals.
Anyway that's the what. Life is pretty good these days.

I was tagged by avaloncalling to REVEAL 6 random things about me....
1.) When I was little I was in the movie 9 1/2 weeks (not "in" it, but there are two shots of me). I also did a voice-over when I was in 6th grade for the main character in an educational cartoon called "A Visit With Uncle Jerry" that they show in some elementary schools. I also got paid for helping re-write part of it.
2.) I do really good imitations of Jon from Pansy Division & Mischa Barton.
3.) I almost chained myself to a truck in Thailand. Later I saw the film "Brokedown Palace" and felt pretty lucky.
4.) I used to have huge boobs. Now I have tiny ones.
5.) I once forgot how to put on clothing.
6.) I often worry that my perceived consciousness is a few minutes behind or ahead of everyone elses. So that, I might be answering everyone's questions two minutes late, or I might hang up on a phone call early. Seriously, I worry about this a lot.

My sister's have backstage passes to Lollapallooza. I feel like maybe the reason I'm not going is that I'm not sure how to spell it. That is a prelimenary test to get in. Toby got them through certain pornographic networking associations. She could only get two and considering my reaction to the idea was "wow, that would be really fun. Gee." versus Lusha's "AHHAH FUCK YEAH fkjkfjkjdkj fjkdjk AHHH LLAALALALA!," I think it works out as it should. But I would have liked to have met Kanye West. And the Red Hot Chile Peppers (apparently Lusha has history with Flea?!?!). And Sleater-Kinney. And The Shins, to a lesser degree. And Ryan Adams additionally. And...hmmm. Damnit. If Prince were there all best would be off. I feel like seeing Kathy Griffin in Sept. is some type of horrilbe consolation prize. I talked to David today and it made me feel back on track. I don't know if I can explain that, but he keep's me...um, I guess he keeps me as myself. He's a really good pal.

A bunch of people are coming to DC next month, in addition to the lot that have already come. Someone said that if you move to DC that a lot of people will stay with you. I thought they were trying to make me feel better about not knowing anyone up here (EXCEPT MY TOTALLY HOT LESBIAN FRIEND RYAN), but it's totally true. I had two really nice conversations last night with people from Weaverville. Apparently there is a really large fire just outside of town and there are some mandatory evacuations. That isn't the nice part. I'd feel a lot worse about this if it didn't happen every summer. God what a boring post. I was going to go on in detail about the holyhot weather, my strong desire to become inappropriately drunk, and some story about Lola, but I'll stop myself right here.

This is pretty neat:
Edwin and Cheryl (at the center in Thailand) did some orangatun repatriation work in Vietnam recently, and they are on the BBC news page:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/5210194.stm
They are the 6th picture. It should be a picture of the two of them with two oranguans. It's pretty exciting because it's not easy to confiscate wild animals like this.

Craigslist is the craziest place on the internet. My favorite thing to do is to read the "strictly platonic" section, though I found this in "missed connections:"
------------------ Lady,
I can see you doing quotation marks with your hands. Drop it.
Sincrely,
L.Cohen
------------------ Anyway, I'm missing class right now because I was so tired. I wish it was a better exscuse, but Dr. West's dogs woke me up at 5 a.m. and I'm sleepy.
I went to work today and ended up spending an hour in a photo shoot for the office. I had to sit in the doctor's office while a freshman who got some Odyssey funding pretended to take my blood pressure. Then we did a pose where he sat in a chair with a folder, explaining soemthing. It kind of looks like he's explaining about a contracted STD, but if that's the image I leave Hendrix with...I'm okay with that.
Oh! I also found in "women seeking women" in Salt Lake City this ad for a woman who was willing to move into their home and have sex with them both and be interested in decorating, etc. Here is an excerpt: "student would be good but a girl who just wanted to be a "housewife" would be great"

Does anyone want to work the kissing booth at the Queer Bash? So far we've got some great hits lined up and you'll make a lot of money. You won't get to keep any of it, but you'll enjoy a kiss as never before when no stigmas are attached to it. ???

I barely feel like a college student anymore. It's only Wedensday afternoon and I don't have class again until Monday, which is when my thesis is due. But then next weekend is Portland so I'll be missing class and work and doing a bunch of "fantastic" (meaning full of FANTASY) things. My spring break was really good, I learned how to do gravestone rubbings and all sorts of other things.
